So I am pretty anxious at the moment...first child is on the way...err..is 4 days late...but I was wondering if there are any Korean cultural gestures made by fathers to their friends and family with regards to a new baby... that is when the boy decides to come....
...should I pass around cigars?....soju?...spam sets?...what, if any, is a good gesture on my part with the Korean family and friends? Any ideas greatly appreciated....
cheers,

Well, you should ask your wife. She knows her family far better than we do. If you throw a little party, get a couple of bottles of whiskey if you know some of them drink. |

I was thinking of having some Crown Royal and a Western style dinner... I have them hooked on mashed potatoes and dill pickles now...and indeed they do enjoy drinking...thanx...
I am just curious if there is a Korean custom...my wife just says drink soju with them all...that is a regular occurance...so I was thinking of something a bit more...well...less ordinary.... |

Don't you have to throw go-choo over the roof or something? |

Listen to your wife. The western style dinner might not be a good idea. I prepared a huge Christmas the first year I was married (turkey, apple pie, etc). I would have never guessed it would have turned out so good...but my in-laws didn't care for it. If you want to prepare a meal/party for them, get some liquor and cook up some samgkyup-sal. |

I think sending a condom or birth control pills would be pretty hilarious. |
