So, back home we'd normally get a real christmas tree. Y'know, go find one, wait for it to grow a bit on the tree farm and then cut it down.
Here, I don't know if there are any places to buy real christmas trees, not to mention that a fake one can be reused again and again.
So the question is fake or real? What's your opinion and are you even getting one?

I've owned a fake tree for the past 3 years, maybe 4.

Back in Canada never had a real one as they are a major fire hazard and a pain in the butt to dispose of.

Really? I know at home, the city has special tree collection days. The trees get turned into mulch and used in the city parks.

We always had a real tree when I was in the States. I love the smell of the pine. Thankfully I lived surrounded by a forest, and we would get a tree from the woods when I was little. Man, I miss that. Now I have a fake one here only because the real ones are about 1 mil won. Now, I've grown accustomed to my little fake tree.

I bought a cute little fake tree at HomePlus last year and just put it up this evening with some cute little white lights. I love Christmas!! And, I love that I have 3 weeks off to celebrate it. Cool

We have had a fake trees for 4 years now. I will have to take ours out on Sunday to see if it is still useable.

It's Letty's second Christmas but the first that she might actually be able to enjoy! Can't wait!!

I've had a little fake one for 3 years now. The first year I had it, I had a party for some of my Korean uni friends and we made some decorations for the tree. It was amazing what they could do with foil, colored paper and odds and ends! I'll be putting it up this week!

Here, have a fake one from Wal-mart. Back home, always a real one. Usu a fir/spruce bought from a lot. Will be putting the fake one up in a week or two. Might be putting the fake one, that another foreigner bought, up at school next week. Christmas can almost be as good here if you have the right attitude. If nothing else, get together with friends and get drunk with your fake tree and the cool lights they have here. Make some egg-nog and buy some rum. Call your folks and friends and say "Mery Christmas!" At least, that's what I do...plus, I have a great wife who I buy a gift for and she really likes the tree and the lights and sleeping in front of them.

p.s. Even though it's illegal, you could go and chop a real one down for your home - en gratis. My school is surrounded by pine tress, and...I'm tempted...my folks were always too cheap to but a nice pine tree.

You can buy lights in most places...saw lots and lots in HomePlus in Suwon today. E-Mart also usually has a good selection.

I bought ours at Wal-mart along with some other decorations. I also bought some back in Dae-goo in '97 at Chihl-suhng Market. Anywhere you see Christmas crap or some similar display, I think you might be able to find some. The ones I'm talking about are the little ones that you can set to all kinds of different outputs...maybe 20 different settings...you can keep pushing the button until you get a setting that you like. Slow, fast, intermittent, whatever. They usu come in a little box and I think they vary on the length in metres or something.

I got my lights at Emart. I went crazy there my second Christmas in and bought everything, tree, lights, ornaments, etc. They had these adorable snowman ornaments exactly like the kind my grandmother used to make except they had glitter. I bought all they had, because they reminded me of her so much. They were expensive but worth every penny.

Artificial flower shops also usually carry artifical trees and the lights that you can set to do all sorts of different things, including play music.
