I noticed a change on the subway maps over the weekend: the branch of Line One (dark blue) from Yongsan to Oksu has been recolored blue-green, and there is a new stretch of this line heading off to the northeast. The new line has been given a name, not numbered, and I'm drawing a blank; it starts with Ch. I assume Korail has simply incorporated a stretch of commuter railway into subway operations, or is in the process of doing so, but I haven't been able to find any information about it yet. I even used the Oksu - to - Yongsan segment yesterday but nothing was visibly different. Does anyone know what's going on? I'm all for it, personally. I think it's confusing for a subway line to have a gazillion branches (London's District Line and Northern Line come to mind), and this ought to clarify things.

BTW, isn't Busan's Line 3 supposed to have opened today?

With all due respect, do a search on dave's first! Rolling Eyes

Anyway, yes it is a new branch. They have been building it for about 2 yers now. Line 1 from Yongsan will not go to Songbuk anymore but branch off at Heigi (sp??) and follow the route of the passanger trains to Wonju, but only about 10 stations or so.

Opens in December

With all due respect, I did a search first and got a series of Permanent Fatal Error messages. Thanks for providing the info on the former Line One, anyway.

Yeah the search function on Dave's is pretty hit or miss these days. Clearly the TME has not actually tried to use it much. He'd know the search function is pretty piss poor.
