I'm finally going to talk to my director about insurance. Should I push for the national plan? I've heard if I sign up for that I'm automatically enrolled in the pension plan--which sounds like a good deal since I'm from the states. Any suggestions?

One more thing--if I do get the national plan, what other taxes am I responsible for? local, labor, foreign resident taxes?

The pension and insurance are two separate programs, but this is one case where the right hand knows what the left is doing. When you sign up for the national insurance plan, the pension office is notified, and they sign you up too.

Well, simply let your boss understand you won't take no for an answer. Tell him that you'll give him until Friday to fill out the paperwork, otherwise you'll call the labor board.
