You might have better luck asking Korean friends for a recommendation for a physical therapist, rather than a doctor. |

I know at least two doctors back in Canada who think chiropractors are QUACKS, practicing something less than medicine, more like dangerous physical therapy with some of their "basic" techniques which have paralyzed and killed "patients". |

There are some chiropractors in Korea - there's one in Itaewon who advertises in K-scene/Soul Classifieds (but I don't have a copy handy to give you the number.) They are not recognized as regular doctors in Korea for national health insurance purposes (though they are in the U.S.). In my opinion, they are no less quacks than "regular doctors" - who I'm sure - percentage-wise - cause a lot more harm to their patients... |

If you have a bad back, they'll send you to an acupuncturist. One of my former co-workers was in a car accident years ago and her back started bothering her while in Korea. Our supervisor recommended she see an acupunturist, and apparently it helped her out. Acupuncturists are pretty prevalent here, from what I've heard. |

i'd recommend LOTUS chinese medicine clinic in apkujeong. they charge 10,000 for a basic acupuncture treatment and the box of medicine they gave me (about 20 of those little chinese medicine drinks) was 100,000.
it's worth it. it makes me feel great. of course, i'm going for liver detox and not back pain, but i've heard many great things about what it can do for your back |

I found a listing for the Korean Chiropractic Association. Maybe they could help you locate one near you (or just make a Saturday appointment and take the KTX train into Seoul if that's the only place they're located ...)
The KCA has applied for membership in the World Federation as the sole chiropractic association in Korea. The organization is anticipating future chiropractic legislation that will provide licensure for chiropractors in Korea.
If you wish to contact the KCA:
KCA President: Young-Serb Song, DC

KCA Secretary: Myeong Jong Lee, DC

Actually, on another site, I found this info:
COUNTRY # QUALIFIED AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL # QUALIFIED THAT SPEAK ENGLISH # UNQUALIFIED CHIROPRACTORS (#WHO READ ENGLISH) LEGISLATIVE STATUS
SOUTH KOREA Fewer than 80 Mainly MD's who did RMIT degree in Korea Fewer than 80 read some English Thousands (Probably none) Against the law to practice as a chiropractor. Condoned to practice chiropractic if you are registered as a heath professional e.g. medicine, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy
I'm interested in the topic because I also have chronic back problems. I've tried acupuncturists (chim doctors) with mixed results... |

I get the two large needles electro shocking with a heat lamp on full blast...my back is spent from a work accident back home years ago and my medication is not available here...
I get this turkey basting session every three days or so lately...I don't think it helps physically so much as it does mentally...I forget about the continual pain due to the new induced pain...
...anyhow I just go to a regular doctor's office...get zapped for 20 minutes and pay 6000 Won a session...
...thems the breaks timmy... |
