My asthma has gotten really bad this week. My meds don't really seem to be doing the trick. Anyone got a good doctor to recommend?

You could probably go to any hospital and ask to see a Pulmonary specialist. I did that out in the boonies (Pyeongchon area) at Hallyim Hospital right by the station. With medical it cost me 12,000 won for the first visit, but it was less after that. He was pretty knowledgeable. He was the only doctor out of 4 others who actually took a chest x-ray to discover why I had a 2 month long cough.

It turns out I had pneumonia (which explains a lot!) and he got me on the right meds to fix that, and the aggravated asthma problem. The other doctors would throw pills and antibiotics that didn't work at me, or tell me stuff like 'rest', 'drink hot water', 'stay away from dust'. haaaaaaa! This is Korea! And tell it to my school!

The hospitals often have a testing room where they can electronically measure your peak air flow and tell how bad your asthma is. This can be very useful as you will have scientific proof to show your school you are not "faking" it. I find a lot of Koreans don't understand the dangers of asthma, and just think you are being weak, or using an excuse.

Go see a specialist. You will save yourself time and money because the longer you leave it, the worse it will get...Good luck!
