Have you contacted anyone from the party to coordinate your petition with others which might be taking place ?

The Green Party must be included in the 2005 debate.
Thanks to Bill C-24, the consortium now has a solution to the ��who to include�� dilemma and their ever shifting ground rules. Bill C-24 was passed by Parliament in 2003. The bill allots $1.75 per vote to all federal parties that achieve 2 per cent or more of the national popular vote. The only fair solution to the consortium��s dilemma: include any leader from any political party that achieves 2 per cent in the previous general election.

Yeah, I emailed them right after I created it. Last time they advertised the petition on their site. It's possible they might want to distance themselves from something like this this time around though, since petitions don't really do much and aren't what big parties use. |

Thanks for the heads up I am spreading the message as we speak, my minions are working on gathering signatures.
It really p*sses me off that we're still having this fight but it just means that we have to win a seat this year.
As for those who are suspect of the party don't be. It has the good social values of the NDP but the fiscal reponsibility of the Liberals and its vision of moving our economy into the future of renewable energy is so important that it cannot be ignored any longer.

In '93 the Conservatives were reduced for a while to a handful of seats, and at times the NDP has had tiny blocs. No one suggested they be shut out of the next debates. With a significant number of voters choosing Green it looks cheap by the other parties and the media to exclude them.

The New Green Party has rebranded itself quite well and is lucky to do so at a time when people are ashamed of the Liberals but still know their policies are the best compared to the other two. Jim Harris is bringing credibility to a party that is still trying to shed the annoying, self-rightous hippy image. They will be able to take voters and soon candidates from all the other parties.
I'd like to see some Green MPs prop up the Liberal minority rather than "tax and spend" NDPers. I think they would give Martin an excuse to implement Kyoto. Hopefully some Green wins in Canada would help the Green Party in the USA get going. That's the most important thing.
It is now a joke that the Greens are out of the debate. The Bloc and Reform both had debate seats in 1993 and they weren't even running candidates in all provinces. I don't even know why the Bloc is allowed to be in parlement anyway, but that's another debate.... |

Canada needs the Bloc Quebecois much more than they do the Green Party.
Good god. We already have the NDP taking up valuable votes with no chance of winning, what the heck do we need the Green Party doing the same thing for.
Quebec needs, deserves, and should always have a seperate voice in parliament. (and this coming from a Torontonian) |

Every party has to start somewhere.
Given the alternatives, the joke would be on the Canadian voter.
None of the big parties appeal to me or (in my opinion) deserve my vote, so why not support a party that has a chance at growing and at least widening the debate and range of voter choice in Canada?
That doesn't mean I have to pledge my allegiance in blood to them or promise to vote Green for the next 15 federal elections, but for this election they make the most sense for me.
So Wrench, if the Greens are a joke, care to tell us who you are going to vote for so we can have an equal opportunity to disparage your choice? |
