|
|
| Anyone ever dine at the Fresco "Italian" restaurant chain here in Korea? My GF and I went there tonight. She had a coupon. Ajuma in training, boyee. Anyway, everything we had basically tasted like it was all over cooked in a microwave. *shudder* |

I ate at a Fresco once here in Busan, and it was almost UNBELIEVABLY HORRIBLE! It was as though they'd taken three-week old macaroni and cheese from the back of the fridge, microwaved it to death, and then let it sit and get cold before serving. I literally had to force the food down. In fact, I would have walked out after the first atrocious bite, but was pressed for time and needed the calories. The taste was awful. Like cardboard, only worse. And I paid over ten thousand won for the privilege! The truly amazing thing, however, was that the restaurant was packed! Unbelievable!
I'm pretty close to being clueless in the kitchen, but I can do far, far better with a package of pasta, a saucepan, and a bit of cheese and butter and salt. For a fraction of the price. And if I can, ANYONE can!
Fresco is so extremely awful that it's almost as though they were TRYING to produce the worst possible tasting food. Trying to get negative stars from the reviewers.
Don't go there. Just don't go. There are certain experiences in life you do NOT want to have, and Fresco is one of them.

I liked the thin crust squid pizza and chicken salad I and a co-worker had there. Mind you, we were both pretty inebriated after having just finished 2 bottles of soju at a galbi joint. The only reason we went to Fresco (in Gangnam) was because they serve beer. It was 4pm and no bars were open.

At least some places serving Italianish food use the "fusion" term (which means spaghetti and ketchup mixed with gochujang and kimchi) so you understand you're going to get highly Koreanized "Italian" food.

There's one directly opposite my officetel. I rarely go, but it's ok for beer and pizza (feels healthier than Pizza Hut anyway). The pasta there sucks.
I had half-decent pizza in a place in Anyang not too long ago, actually, and the pasta we had in Beomgye on Saturday was ok. |
