My girlfriend and I have decided to teach each other language. Her English is decent, not bad at all, but needs help. I have tought adults before, but only part time at a hogwan and i honestly didnt care, just used the book, gave them their stuff to memorize, and did the free talking thing.
obviously she and i already talk a lot, and i am not a fan of memorizing lines out of a book, so any help?
I am thinking first of just remembering that is incorrect, and going over those and practicing, but i cant think of much more.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks |

Try working with things she enjoys.
pop songs , if there is an artist she likes, try going over the lyrics to some songs and explain any vocabulary and idioms she has trouble with.
Movies......... if she is interested in certain movies, ask he to write down any language she has trouble with and then you can go over it together.
Or if that's too high level, you can buy a script book from certain English book stores. In Busan, Young Kwang sells them as well as Nampo book store, maybe Kyobo as well.
You can try short stories and or articles to read. If she likes reading.
There are many good reading texts available with short articles followed by comprehension and vocabulary building exercises.
If that is too formal, you could try watching some American TV shows together. I believe many people use the series "Friends".
If she's more advanced, you could get some National Geographic or Time mags and go over some articles from them. (be warned though, there are usually some really difficult things to explain)
Hope this helps |

My ex was pretty much totally self-taught and spoke really good (rilly cute too) English. She'd learned a lot from music (she loved Atomic Kitten) and had found a website that had tons of American and British songs translated into Korean. I don't know what the site was but I think it was one of the big ones like Daum or Naver. |
