I woke up this morning and noticed all the snow. So I decided to take my daughter outside to play in it, since this is a rarity and unlikely to stick around long. When I went outside the guard ajjosi was brushing the snow off of all the cars - now that is great service.

Here he is brushing off my car - I tried to stop him, but he didn't want to let me do it - He insisted that I go play with my daughter.

He is my daughter getting ready to throw a snowball at me!

Asa! That sounds lovely. But how do you survive- intellectually and spiritually, in Colorado Springs? Confused Are you the only non-conservative?

I met up with some friends for mulled wine last night. After that christmassy beverage we walked out into a good inch of snow in Gangnam. I bet Christmas itself won't be as cool as that.

The neighbours tell me the snow won't stay on the ground long but it got us in the mood to do the Christmas decorations today Very Happy
The religious conservatives are mostly in the north end of town (it's newer), thankfully we're in the southwestern part which is generally wealthier and more cultured; The Broadmoor Hotel is just down the street. There's a surprising arts/bohemian community here (Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, etc) and I was lucky to already have a mixed bag of friends in CoS when we moved so they introduced me to a lot of it right away. Suffice it to say they're everything else but Republican.
There's also many immigrants from all over the world--they keep things interesting--lots of ethnic food markets. CoS is not too big, not too small and the Rockies are Right Here--pretty *wow* scenery and the skiing/snowboarding up in the mountains is fabulous! The weather isn't hard to take, 300+ days of sunshine a year and winter is a joke by Canadian (and Alaskan!) standards. It was 59F and sunny yesterday while I was cleaning up the yard, ahsa!
All in all we really like living here but then we're outdoors people, it may not be as fun for a more urban person-- though the great throbbing metropolis of Denver is just an hour away. Fun for big concerts, hockey (I still call them the Nordiques Smile ) and splashy parties.

Otherwise the locals here are quite friendly and welcoming--I just avoid discussing politics and religion, and then they don't horrify me.
Wink

Weather report on Yahoo! says we'll be getting snow off-and-on for a few days yet. There's a huge mass of cloud cover over China/Mongolia/Russia.

I would be pissed if he did that to my car. The broom is sure to scratch the clear coat (one of my pet peeves).

We were sittin' around the teacher's room and talkin' about the weather. Asking when does it snow in Korea and so on. The Korean woman who is school manager said, 'oh, the weather in Korea is getting colder and colder winters because of the hole in the ozone'.

Snow is a beautiful thing. It makes me happy. What makes me happier is the fact that school is cancelled tomorrow.
