Hello all. I am currently teaching in Japan and on my way to Korea. I teach Adults at the moment. I was curious about whch has a better pay scale teaching adults or children in Korea. I have proper training in both and just wanted to knoew from other experiences which is better pertaining to pay |

The starting pay for both is around 1.9-2.2 / month. The question you should be asking is which will be a more rewarding, fulfulling, and pleasant experience, not how much won you can squeeze out of the system. Since you'll be making more than enough to get by you're only real concern about pay should be that you will get paid and on time - for this reason a government job is a much surer bet. Otherwise it doesn't matter that much and you should be looking at working conditions, not plus or minus W100,000. |

I disagree. Adult schools in Busan seem to be the most tight-fisted with regards to wages/benefits. Sure there are exceptions, but every hagwan owner will tell you that kids hagwans can generate more income. Adults are too finicky and like to drop classes after only a day or so. With kids, there is usually a more steady core of students.
Not saying that teaching kids is better.... in many ways its waayyyyy harder...at least for me. But in some ways it's easier (kids tend to ask fewer grammar type questions and a lot of kids' schools have classes set up as a block shift)
and a lot can depend on the school, the students and your attitude. |

One factor not mentioned is that adult hakwons normally require a split shift. That can be a killer. |
