Should we, as foreigners, be nervous about this? Does anyone here want to put their trust in the hands of random Korean police officials?
The Uri party is trying to strengthen police powers, granting them the rights to investigate criminal cases independently of public prosecutors.

| It's the Korean police. I'm not afraid of a bunch of 10 year old girls dressed up in their daddies' uniforms. |

As opposed to it being in the hands of random prosecutors?
I've seen this debate going on all year but I don't remember seeing any newspaper take sides, or even reading any explanation of why these reforms are being pushed. I guess that leaves me to conclude it's a pure power grab. |
