I'm trying to get through to the Chinese embassy but I'm not sure I have the correct number as eveytime I call all I get is a load of Korean.

Is there an english-speaking number? Can I have the full number including area code as I am outside of Seoul?

Thanks in advance.

Try calling them at 02-738-1038. Yes, they do speak English.
They are located on the 9th floor of the Kyobo Building in Jongno part of Seoul. It it close to Insa-dong for those who are coming in from out of town.

Visa fee is $60 for Americans and $35 for other nationalities. Process takes a filled in application, passport sized photo and 4 days. Rush service is available at an increased fee. The consular section is only open from 9-11am. We were there in July to get our visas.

Just made a useless trip to the embassy near Gyeongbokgung. Found out they don't do visas. The gateman directed me to the location near the Namsan Tower cable car, saying that's where they process visas now.

Does that mean this Jongno branch is gone now? It'd be much more convenient for me to go the Kyobo tower instead of hiking up Namsan...

I already applied for the visa, so it won't help at this point. Just wondering for future reference though...

The Chinese Embassy here in Korea don't really have anyone that speaks English. Reason being that they are not in an English speaking country and most of the workers there are Chosun-Chinese people, meaning that they speak Korean, so they communicate with their Korean counterpart, well, in Korean.

I called once and had to talk to them in Mandarin... man that was hard, my mandarin was very rusty at that point!!
