I am thinking of going to china for studying chinese for like a month. I havent decided even yet where china I can learn Mandarin from. I was thinking a small town where I can stay and hire some chinese college students who can teach me chinese like a month. I want to learn Mandarin. I really have no idea from where to start with my china trip since I have no information where to go but I am planing on leaving to china as soon as possible.

How much will it cost for homestay?

How much will it cost for hiring chinese teachers( college studetns?

What area is the best for learning chinese?

Please input any information about china as soon as possible. I really appreciate for your help.

Thanks,

Well, provided you don't mention TIBET, human rights, that FALUN GONG bunch, democracy or gov't corruption everything should go smoothly.

Apparently Chinese living in the rural areas are the friendliest.

Then again they also shit a lot in the streets ... Shocked Laughing

Knee how !?!

Well, Beijing is the nicest city of the ones I've been to (BJ, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin), except of course Hong Kong which is the perfect city and pinnacle of human civilization but I digress. Go to Beijing if you can tolerate snow, or Shenzhen (the mainland city that borders Hong Kong) if you prefer tropical weather. The advantage of Beijing is that they all speak Mandarin natively, it's their local dialect. Shenzhen speaks Mandarin because it's a new city, it wasn't there 20 years ago, so people came from all over China and have little choice but to speak Mandarin to one another. I've heard that the Mandarin is spoken particularly well and easy to understand in the Northeast, too, for instance Haerbin city, but that's too cold in winter for me to even think about.
