Hi Guys,
I'm arriving in Seoul for a camp at Kyung-gi university in a few weeks. The problem is I want to stay a little longer than the 3 week camp. Is there any possibility of doing some sub work for teachers going on holidays in February?
Also, I noticed someone else asked about this uni, but there were no replies. Does anyone have any info on this place or on Planet ESL, who are the recruiter?
Thanks in advance! |

Bring all your docs and just look for a job while you're working at the camp. I'm sure you'll find something. |

Substitute work is not normally done here. You must have visa clearance for each place you work, even if only for an hour.
The advice the other poster gave is sound. Bring your documents and look for work while here. Do not start working any place until you have a new work visa for that place. You will risk deportation to do otherwise. |

Thanks. It will have to be short term work that I look for as I'm due back to teach at a uni here in Australia for March. I have seen a few ads on other boards from teachers looking for a substitute - so I guess if I can wrangle something like that i'll have to do a visa run and hope for the best.
If that happens, i'll be screaming for help again to make sure I don't end up in Siberia - navigation not a string point!
But thanks for now |

As far as I understand, the immigration office isn't issuing short-term visas or renewals anymore, only 6 month or 1 year ones. Also, immigration, in coordination with the MOE is in the midst of a crackdown on illegal workers here. If you are thinking of doing anything outside the books, now might not be the best time to do it in Korea.
Just a heads up. |

Thanks. I have no intention of working illegally. I have a c4 visa to work a winter camp and was tole that if I get work at another camp following this I just have to do a visa run to have the next employer stamped on my visa.
I've also answered a few ads to fill in for teachers over feb, and they said their school will sponsor me for a E2 and give me a post dated letter of release so that they can come back and relieve me after the month.
Does this sound ok - or is my leg being pulled big time???? |
