Hey, its getting winter. Anybody know where to find wool socks in central Seoul? I can only find the cotton ones though to be honest I've mostly been looking the last few days and around the Hankuk Univ area where I live.
edit: this round. did some searching about a month ago in outlets with no luck. |

Supermarkets, department stores.
I recall seeing a store in Itaewon that has all kinds of socks imaginable. It's on Hamilton Hotel side, going towards the Police booth, sort of slightly more than half way down that road. |

Don't know about wool socks, but there are sock vendors all over the place, and they sell knee socks. Haven't a clue what they are made from ( certainly not wool) but they are SO warm. They are great. Snug, wash well, dry quickly, and only 2,000 won. And if you put on 2 pair, I swear they will be the warmest socks you can find. (or anyway the warmest ones I have found) |

I got some good thermal sox the last time I was here but the only place I've seen wool socks is some outdoor equiptment stores with hiking gear.

Huh? What is this? You are talking about socks used by men, right?
(I discovered and got a religious experience of wool socks only last winter.
Man, they are sooo warm and cozy and dont even make your feet boil when going indoors with full winter-resistent armour! ) |

Namdaemun Market sells some U.S. miltary clothing, including some fine thick wool socks. Also found them in Guri city, outside Seoul though, about 20 minutes from Chamsil station on express bus 1115-6 (exit 7) |

There's a streetside vendor in Itaewon selling knee high wool socks. Only one problem -- it's hit or miss whether he's there. Go out exit 1. Walk straight. His stall is just before the first silver shack by the side of the road. (I think they either make keys or repair shoes in the silver structure. If you can't find the vendor, chances are he's inside the shack warming up.) He sells cotton and wool hot socks. The socks are a little tight at the top, but toasty warm. He asks for 4000 a pair, but you can talk him down to 6,000 for two pairs on a good day. I just bought mine this week, so I don't know how they'll hold up in the wash. Happy hunting. |
