|

My Korean gf and I are planning on getting married outside of Korea.
This means we need a copy of the long version of her Birth Cert translated into English by an official source.
Anyone know how to go about getting this?
Does Korea have two versions of people's birth cert or is it just the one? |

Your future wife's birth is recorded in her father's family book. This is the official record of birth/death/marriage in Korea. She needs to obtain an official copy and have it translated into English and the English translation notarized by an official Korean notary. You need to then take the notarized translation to your embassy and have them certify that on the date that the documant was notarized the notary was a legally registered notary with the Korean government. Your embassy has a list of legal notaries. Once this process is completed you have a legal record of your future wife's birth and also a record that she is not currently married. |
