Hi:
Quick question about bringing original documents to Korea with me: Is it necessary to bring my original Uni degree and TESOL certificates? I.e. If I have my E2 visa before leaving will I still need these documents to clear immigration? If it all possible I would like to leave these documents in Canada. Does anyone know if I can I just bring notarized copies with me instead? And if so, does anyone know how to go about getting these documents officially notarized.
Thanks,
Shikha |

I'd suggest it's a pretty good idea to keep them all on you. Korean immigration people tend to make it all up as they go along. It is not uncommon to be told several different things by different people, and sometimes even the same person can change 'their' story, seemingly on a whim.
You're better of keeping all your transcripts and certificates on you in Korea, you never know when you might be asked to present them to someone and if you don't have them this could potentially cause serious problems for you.
Good luck. |

Get them notarized at your local consulate (by a Korean notary, that is) not at an American notary public. Also I recommend bringing some extra color photocopies, they can be used to satisfy certain people without you having to let go of your real certificate. |

Can you have copies notarized here in korea? I brought my original and would like to avoid having it hold hostage for whatever reasons. |
