| Whaaa... What happened to Vancouver? But, yeah, Montreal is pretty cool; maybe too cool in winter, though, if you're not into that sort of thing. (We be talking -30C some days, and snow beyond your wildest dreams.) |

Montreal is as good as Vancouver in many ways, and has way more cultural events, festivals, restaurants, etc, not to mention location relative to other major cities for interurban travel.

| Oh, and for the record, the list examined the city's nightlife, standard of living, job sector, arts and culture, weather, state of affairs, and all of the other things that encompass daily life. |
Montreal has more nightlife, hands down, than Vancouver.
Vancouver has a higher standard of living but also higher costs in terms of rents and property ownership.
Montreal has better job opportunities than economically stagnant Van.
In terms of arts and culture, waaaay in Montreal's favour (but where's "lifestyle" considerations?)
It's a push in terms of daily life.
The magazine probably only wanted to profile one Canadian city and chose Montreal as an alternative to the ubiquitous Vancouver, Vancouver, Vancouver that shows up on Top-Ten lists.
If I were to eventually settle down near a metropolitan area, either one of those two would do me just fine. |

Montreal no.1???
You must be s.hittin me!?! How on earth it beats cities such as London, Rome, Paris, New York and Hong Kong is beyond me. Sure the air may be cleaner and the grass greener but no doubt it does not have the glitz, glamour, history or buzz that the others do. |

| New York shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near that list. In the USA the only choices that make sense are New Orleans or somewhere on the West Coast. All in all I approve of the list. You guys who slam Montreal are missing the point that it's full of people who speak French. Who wouldn't want to live in a city with women who speak French? Ooh la la. I'm also pleased that Hong Kong, my personal #1, is represented. |

Well done Canada you're the envy of the world you are!!!!
You can spot all the ex-pat Canadians in Korea a mile off coz they just seem to be so much happier than everyone else and they are always so funny.
I love their sense of humor. Those guys crack me up at the bar.
And what about those Canadian girls? Oooh Lah Lah!...No attitude or pretensions with those young ladies.Or make up.Or diet worries.Theyre just so earthy.Thats great.
I wish I was Canadian.Every other non-Canadian I know in korea feels the same. But I'm just not good enough.
Maybe the next time. |

Wow, Montreal #1! It sure as hell was nowhere near the top 10 when I lived there (90-93). Half the storefronts on St. Catherine St. were boarded up and heroin was back in fashion in a big way on St Laurent...
But having visited a half-dozen times in the past year I'm only a little surprised that it caught the #1 spot. |

I'm too lazy to address all of the points you made and, besides, they're all true. So I'll just skip to the end and note that I agree with that, too. |

Did you see grass? I always found it too difficult to lift the white carpet to have a look. |

Yeah, no kidding. I left there about the same time. But rents sure were cheap. And those bagels... |
