Happy Winter morning to everyone! I'd like to know what happens with the E2 visa in this situation:
I'm about to change jobs, still have about 3 and a half months on my current visa but I will finish with my current school at the end of the year and start work in the new school at the beginning of next year.
The question is.... will Immigration let me continue the new job on my old visa till that expires? And when it does, the new school will then apply another E2 for me...is this correct?
I've already got hold of the Letter of Release from my current school. Does anyone know the process? |

Nope - you will have to get a new visa. |

sheba is right.
Before you start work on the new job you will have to leave the country and get a new E-2 visa. You will probably get a new ARC as well.
You should be in contact with your new employer to discuss when you will be going on your visa run. Time is running short. |

sorry Ya-ta and sheba, but it is perfectly possible to change your E2 visa with a LOR. I dont know exactly how it is done, but this is not hearsay, I did it about 4 years ago and others have too. All I do know is it takes cooperation between old and new school, so if it is on friendly terms should be no problem. Do a search on daves and you might find more info. |

...might take a little extra cash, too...for the hard work of the immi official, that is. |
