Uzbekistan. 4 months. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Bukhara or Samarkand (well, I saw the train station in Samarkand and went by the Registan in a taxi). Drank lots of beer and vodka. Ate lots of plov and shashlik. |

Kazakhstan was kind of a boring country, but I liked it. Almaty was nice. Astana was dirty and smoky and dull. Then again, I was there five years ago and the country at that point was changing quite rapidly, so I'd imagine it all looks quite different by now anyway.
Shashlik is gooooood. |

Nice pics.
I was there last year too. In May, but I feel like going again in 2007 for about one or two months just to ride.
Nice people, very good scenery and climate in the summer.
Anyone else going in 2007?
Travel plan: Fly to Korea, plane to Mongolia, fly back to Korea, train to Japan, fly out from Japan to Toronto.
Maybe I'l marry one of the Mongolian lassies..... |
