Hi,

Is anyone out there using this yet? I know it's a bit more expensive than some of the other routers out there but it's had some good reviews.

If you have or know someone who has it, what are the problems you've encountered if any? Does the router have a variable power supply? (from 110V to 240V so I could use it basically anywhere with the right plug adaptor)

Any info or stories about this router would be appreciated.

most AC/DC adaptors are 110-240 ready. I had belking router it was a great piece of technology.

I don't like Belkin. I found it to be inferior to Linksys, at least as far as range and wireless transfer rate.

I had plenty problems with my linksys, belkin never gave me any headaches. Oh well to each its own I guess.

It has great reviews, BUT some things to consider:

In Korea, they gouge you for this router. Expect to pay over 210,000 for it. If you live overseas, you will pay almost half that.

When I was looking for routers, Johnny Computer told me he wouldn't sell the Belkin Pre-N because it didn't work well with the Korean VDSL, or whatever it is that they have for internet. I think he was just making a typical Korean bullshoot excuse because he didn't have it in stock.

It runs very hot. Owners say the unit sometimes gets almost too warm to touch in the back when under load, which scares some people.

If I were in another country, I might have purchased this router. I don't need to pay through the nose for extra range, though, as I live in a one bedroom place. My Linksys 54G works very well, and I can use it outside of my place. It cost me 75,000 won and I am on 128 bit WP2-AES security with MAC addresses of my machines only. (Use AES, as it seems to not slow down things so much).

Anything with the new MIMO technology will work well. Linksys has a really nice MIMO router too. It is just a bit newer, and doesn't have the reviews out like Belkin. Since it is new, it is pricey though. Here it will cost you 260,000 won, but overseas exactly half of that.

Oh, I want to add that I see Linksys just came out with this bad-boy, which is supposed to be much better, up to 240mps performance, but nearly the same price. You can't even get it in Korea yet.:

I can't comment about wireless routers but a few weeks ago I bought a Belkin ethernet 4 port router and it seems ok so far. Yes it does feel a little warm but not enough to worry me.

Prior to that I had a DLink modem that connected via the usb port and I had no end of trouble with drop outs. I managed to get a credit for it and went to a DLink 4 port ethernet router. It was much better and I was happy with it.

However, I now have a VOIP connection and that required a VOIP compatible router, hence the Belkin router.

I'm a bit wary of wireless connections because of the security risk. BUT, I'm not happy with the mass of cables on and under my desk. I may consider wireless sometime in the future.

I've decided to go with the Belkin Pre-n.

I can buy it on Ebay and have it shipped here for less than what it would cost to buy here. I'll post any problems I may encounter after I get it set up.

Let us know if they stick you with import fees for importing electronics. They have been known to charge 60%. I'm not kidding.
