I just thought I'd share an activity I just finished. I came up with it at the last minute and it went over well.

I have an extra-curricular high school class. We've been using SMALL GROUP DISCUSSIONS TOPICS FOR KOREAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS and had just done topics on teen idols and The Dangers of Smoking. We had some time at the end after they had all been "talked out". I then asked them to find 2 websites in ENGLISH about their favorite Korean idols and 2 on the dangers of smoking. Of course they had no trouble finding ones in Korean but many needed help using English based search engines and typeface. I had intended it as a filler but I now see that it is really an important skill to be taught.

I had them record the URL and to find 5 words that they didn't understand on two of the websites. They then had to try define them, using online dictionaries.

I will use this activity again.
