Well, come on. I guess The Onion only serves to undermine real news reporting. There's such a thing as parody. Real scientists don't get confused. Geez, I hope the Ig Nobel awards isn't disinformation in your view.

Face it, what makes real scientist run away like Richard Pryor on fire from your little UFOology, cryptozooology, conspiracy saturated world is not parody. It's that the whole field is so full of hoaxsters that try to scam each other that make real scientists fear to dip their toes in it.
