Today I defragged my 250GB disc and deleted a number of files I didn't want anymore. I turned off the computer went out and when I came home my computer tells me that "The disk in drive D: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"

I don't want to format it as I have a large number of very important files on there. Is there some way to recover the data? I googled and determined that it is most likely bad sector(s) but haven't yet figured out how to fix that.

All help very much appreciated.

It was your wife.

While you were away, she found the porn, got angry, and deleted everything.
