| My school is demanding an answer from me next week. I feel it is almost too soon. How about yours? |

| Mine asked mid-November, but I knew I wasn't staying so it wasn't a problem to tell them no. |

| I work at a university and we signed almost 2 weeks ago; they ask because of paper work. |

| I just looked, and my contract says we must sign by the end of the month. I suppose I can push it, but I run the risk of them not wanting to sign me again. |

| Yup I had to give my school an answer by mid-November as well, just like last year. Last year I wanted to look elsewhere but because of the early answer I had to give it wasn't possible. This year I'm going out on a limb and have told them no when I don't have another job in the bag yet for March, though one good prospect thanks to a nice guy from New Zealand. |

My school asked my april for next march. I told them I didn't know yet. My contract says I have until 45 days before the end of my contract, so that's when I'll say |

One hour? *shaking head*
This is early December. Schools are asking teachers to decide now whether they'll want to stay on for another year that won't even start until four months from now? *shaking head again*
I'm clearly missing something here. I thought agreeing to re-sign with an employer is the step that comes AFTER the often excruciatingly long process of negotiating an employment contract, renegotiating an existing one, compromising on Contract Terms "A" and "B" in exchange for something you want on Contract Terms "C" and "D", bluffing, calling their bluffs, shooting down their "clay pigeon" arguments, crushing their army of "stick-men" excuses, haggle, haggle, haggle.... and THEN you decide "yes" or "no" to another year.
I'm sure I stand to be educated. |
