Cute ftp is probably quicker. You'll be wanting the server version which isn't free (though can be had for free:wink:)

The advantage is that you'll be able to download multiple things and upload multiple things.

There are other FTP programs that'll work too.

Yeah but first you will need to setup a FTP server if you want to do that.

If you need some help, you can send my details to your Brother in law for my FTP and then you can download them anytime.

Send me a PM.

Cheers

Filezilla is an FTP client, not a server. One of you has to install an FTP server, there are many out there. personally I use Cerberus http://www.cerberusftp.com/.

Once you install it you need to set up a user account for your brother in law, which is very easy. You specify a username and a password for him, also set permissions as to what he can do; read/write files, delete files etc...

Once you have done this he can connect to your server using Filezilla and upload the files to your computer. He just needs you IP address to use as the host address in Filezilla, and enter his username and password.

As I type this I just realized that it is you that wants to download files from him, so it would make more sense for him to install the FTP server and you downloading from him, as download speeds are faster than uploads.

If either of you is wondering what your IP addresses are you can visit http://dnsstuff.com upon visiting that site your IP address is displayed in the upper right corner.

FTP transfer rates will be much faster than doing over MSN.

Hope this helps.

What FTP client are you using and what FTP server is he using?

You might have to get him to allow PASV or passive commands because some clients/servers have different settings of this as default. Friggin' annoying, that.

If you are using Cerberus as I suggested he should assign you to a virtual directory on his computer where he keeps the files you want to download.

From the menu: Configuration>>user manager>>select a user>> where it says "virtual directory for:" click the "..." button and select the directory where the files are>>click "add to root"

Ok if you are going to go that route.

But FTP transfers over HTTP ones are by far more convenient and faster for user to user transfer.

Just remember, Korea has probably the best internet in the world, the USA and Canada are far behind. It all depends on what kind of connection he has.
