Aussie reporter, oh yeah baby I like this guy:
"Do you feel discriminated against when people say, this is what scientology is, that you are part of a lunatic fringe?"
Wow Groovey cult question!!
Pity he didn't ask him about Xeno the Evil Galactic Overlord

Parts of that interview were eerily similar to his Frank T. Mackie character's interview in 'Magnolia.'

Take a Scientology Personality Test
How to Make a Person Sober
There is an interesting use of Locational Processing as a way to make a person sober. It can make a drunk person sober in a very few minutes. As society currently has no technology for handling the drunk, who is an embarrassment to his family, his friends and often to himself, this process has social value and may serve as a line of cooperation and assistance to the police.

Religion is always more profitable than philosophy--L. Ron Hubbard was no dunce. |

I think that interview went much better than the others. The interviewers seem to be goading Cruise in recent times. This past one, the guy did cross the line asking him more and more about his ex-wife. What I would like to see would be the outtakes of those interviews. |

It seems as though Cruise is lying low and not being all crazy. That was quite a ride.
I like Tom Cruise as an actor...I know that's sometimes not a popular opinion. But, god, dude needed to chill.

Tom C can't act. He is more wooden than picohio! And he's even worse than MS. Slater. |

He's better than Keanu Reeves, but that's as far as I'd be willing to go. They both appear to have graduated from the same school of acting. |

Right. They both appear on screen to be very hardworking actors, determined to be good at their job. This would be a commendable quality if they were bagboys at a supermarket; however, it also makes it so they will never be known as gifted actors (all of which have the ability to make the audience forget they are watching an actor). |

I always thought Frank T. J. Mackey was Cruise's single best performance. It was just so damn believable. All his other roles tend to be focused around his looks, different poses he can make, or how often he can scream at people. |

It was a nice performance. I also like his roles in Eyes Wide Shut and Minority Report. Neither rewrite the acting rulebook, but he does a good job. I don't think anyone can consider him a terrible actor. He has a lot of presence and charisma on screen, which in many ways make up for his deficiencies as an actor.

I watched this interview and I agree with your take on it.
Remember the way reporters went after Sean Penn when he was married to Madonna? Looking to get him to hit them?
They smell blood with Cruise (partly his own fault), and they go for it, shamelessly at times. |
