How far do you think this truck would get on a highway back home?

That is disgustingly barbaric. I can't wait to see what the Korean apologists have to say about this.

Poor dogs. I've seen chickens packed like that. Of course, I find it hard to feel as bad for chickens.

That is really sickening. I think one thing that I'll always hate about Korea is the lack of respect for animals, especially dogs.

No matter where i've lived in Korea, the gardens of neighbouring houses always have poor, pitiable dogs who are simply chained up 24/7. If they bark all day and go round the twist, nobody cares. My neighbours in Korea were scum, I watched their dog grow up from a little puppy into a large-sized dog, chained up all the time in their garden. The dog just kept barking all the time, I felt sorry for the dog but it also used to stop me from sleeping so I got really angry at the people. A couple of days before I left that apartment the big dog was gone(where I dread to think) , and what had they replaced it with? A brand new puppy. Some people in this world really are slime, they just don't get it do they?

I think when it comes to dog abuse Koreans must be right up there near the top. I'd heard it was worse in China, but the city I stayed in had very few stray dogs, and I saw a surprising amount of people walking their dogs. They seemed quite a bit more civilised than Korea but I suppose it'll vary from province to province.

I've seen similiar abuse in Europe, but not on the scale of Korea. I hope that's one part of Korean culture that will quickly evolve for the better, asap.

Hyperbole much?

It is disturbing, but most cultures around the world treat their dinner in much the same way.

Agreed. I'm not their biggest fan, but PETA (www.peta.org) does have some pics and vids showing the way that N.A.'s treat their cows and chickens. It makes BBE's pics look harmless.

Near my apt. there's a restaurant and the owner, who is a nice guy (I guess), has a malamute/Siberian Husky chained up. It's got a wonderful friendly personality. It's chained up all the time. In the Summer it was under a tree. These days he's under a slanted signfront on edge making a kind of lean-to.

His coat's long as is with the breed. But it hasn't been bathed or anything like that and just hangs out on his chain. Doesn't bark or act mean. Life on a short chain. Wonder why he has a dog. This goes on, for the dog, day after day. Kinda unbelievable.

Those dogs are probably all dead by now anyway. The yellow dogs are the ones they like to make into dog soup. I suspect when you see dogs like this on the highway, they're likely headed for the soup bowl.

I've also seen dogs crammed into little cages like this on the back of motorcycles in Seoul.

Take a look at www.koreananimals.org/dogs_p1.htm

It's a real eye opener for dog lovers.

I love dogs and all...but we have to remember we're in their country and it's their business what they eat. I just wish they would treat them a little nicer before they end up on the table though.

Sometimes in the wee hours of the morning I can hear dogs screaming in pain. It's very close, and you can actually hear them being hit over the head with something. I know they're being killed, and I certainly don't like it. But this is not Canada, and I know I have no right to complain...even if I do feel horrible for the dogs.

Why didn't you get in and let it go? That's probly what happened to it. Some soft-hearted ESL cafe members should organize a brigade to go around unlocking cages (I don't mean kicking heads, Baby Aga.)

Emancipate the poor sorry doggy brothers and kin. Every dog must have its day.
