I've had my own fun with these guys too. One of them wrote to me as a poor widow, appealing to me as a Christian to take her money before she died so I could give it to the poor. Talk about low-down and dirty.
I had some questions, like how she found my e-mail address, and how she knew I was a Christian, which were continually avoided until the very last letter, in which "she" confesses that she got my email address in a dream from the Lord. Unfortunately, none of my letters to "her" are extant, but it ended with me breaking character and just telling him he was being a loathesome person, and to do something better with his life.

Quote:
FROM: MRS ROSE MARTINS TOYO.
In Lordship. I am the above named person from Tunisia but now undergoing
medical treatment. I was married to Dr.MARTINS TOYO.who worked with Malaysia
embassy in ABIDJAN for nine years, before he died in the year 2002. We were
both married for eleven years without children. He died after a brief illness
that lasted for only four days. Before his death we were both Christians
and since his death I decided not to re-marry.
When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of USD15,000,000.00
(Five Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) with a African
Devlopment bank I will send you details as soon as you indicate your interest.
Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next Six months
due to my cancer illness. Having known my condition and believing the doctor
I have decided to donate this fund to avoid total loss to church, Less
privilege,
or better still a Christian individual that will utilize this money the
way I am going to instruct herein. I want interested
to help orphanages ,widows and propagating the Gospel and to ensure that
the house of God is maintained. Please do not fail to spread the funds across
the globe especially AFRICA as soon as you receive the money. The Bible
made us to understand that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this
money and my husband relatives are fighting over the properties and I don't
want my husband's hard earned money to be misused by their greedy attitude.
I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an UNGODLY manner,
hence the reason for taking this bold decision. I am not afraid of death
since I am a good christian. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of
the Lord. The bible says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold
my peace.
I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health,
and because of the presence of my husband's relatives around me always.
I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are
possible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact
information
of the bank and other details that will enable you claim the funds. I will
also issue you a letter of authority/Power of Attorney that will make you
the beneficiary of this fund. I want you to always pray for me because the
lord is my shepherd. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian.
Whoever that wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and truth.
Please always be prayerful all through your life. I sent you this mail under
severe pains. Any delay in your reply will be detrimental. Please assure
me that you will act accordingly.
Remain blessed in the name of the Lord.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs.ROSE MARTINS TOYO.

Quote:
Dear Kermo,
I thank you again for the mail i just received from you.Well i do not want
you to think as you have thought that they mail i sent to you was meant
to another person, not at all.I have not thought of contacting another person
because i know definately you were going to help me in this regards.
Look i just want you to know that i got your contact after i fasted and
prayed and ask God to reveal to me who will definately help me and expecially
someone whowill be sincere, and fate through you at my closest.
To tell you the truth, after my prayers,i had a dream that i should search
the internet, and he will show me who will help me and your email address
was mentioned to me.
This is not really the time for all this.Look on where i will want to treat
myself.I will ask you do that for me because you will be in better posituion
to do that. The most important thing now is how to get this transfer done
and that is all.
Please do respond so that i will give you the bank contact for neccessary
action.
Yours,
Rose.

I still haven't succeeded in getting my friend Mr Zongo to send me a pic of him wearing a flowery hat. Rather than respond directly to my queries he keeps sending me the same canned 2nd and 3rd email with atrocious English over and over again. I need a scammer with better English.

That took an amazing amount of effort over at ebolamonkey, but there were some beautiful moments, and a nice payoff.
I loved, laughed, and learned. Specifically,
YOU HAVE TO POOL THE BULL BY THE HEAD.

I've tried sending those messages to the abuse hotlines,
but I always get a message back saying that I need to include the "full headers" before they could take any action.
What are full headers?
And how do I enter full headers from a yahoo account?

In Yahoo...

Go to "OPTIONS" -> "GENERAL PREFERENCES"
Under "MESSAGES", check "SHOW ALL HEADERS ON INCOMING MESSAGES".

Has anyone thought of scamming these guys by offering bogus free English lessons? You could teach them all kinds of stuff -- I leave that to your imaginations, heh heh.

Once upon a time when dinosaurs ruled the planet (maybe 5 years ago),
a couple of friends and I actually called one Nigerian. We couldn't stop laughing after the guy confirmed his identity but denied being involved in any scam. We were ripping into him, hehehe. Well, who wants money from Nigeria anyway.
