Hi all, I searched around and couldn't find the answer to this so I apologise if it's been asked before.

I applied for a YBM job a few weeks back (before reading all the negative feedback on this forum about YBM). Then today I got a phone call and there's a chance of me getting the/a position. One of the things that attracted me to it, was the reduced working hours (and pay) giving me time to pursue some other things while in Korea (including language study).

The ad had the following:
Quote:
* Working Hours

Shift A: 9:00am~6:00pm (Mon~Fri)
Salary: 2.4 million won/mo.
9:00am~3:00pm for kindergarten program
3:00pm~6:00pm for elementary program

Shift B: 9:00am~4:30pm (Mon~Fri)
Salary: 1.9~2.0 million won/mo.
OR
9:00am~4:30pm (Mon, Wed, Fri) 9:00am~3:00pm (Tue, Thu)
Salary: 1.8~1.9 million won/mo.
9:00am~3:00pm for kindergarten program
3:00pm~4:30pm for elementary program

---Teachers will be contracted for one of the shift only.---

I applied with my eye on shift B.

So my questions are this:

Does shift B actually exist? Does anyone know anyone who has worked it? Has anyone here ever worked it? Is there a catch that anyone knows of?

Am I just kidding myself and asking to be screwed over?

Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks.

That shift does exist.

Your best bet: call the school and talk to other foreign teachers there.

Get your information from the source instead of relying on an online discussion board to make your decision! Wink

More important than the hours is the fact that (as I understand it) the job you are applying for is a *team teaching* position with *3* teachers per class.

That probably won't be an easy situation. I've done team-teaching (2 teachers in the same class at the same time) and in hindsight, I wouldn't do it again.

So with 3 teachers in the same room + it being *kindergarten* level, I would think long and hard before signing.

Finally, if an advertisement gives you a pay scale range of 1.9 to 2.4 you are more likely to get the lowest figure.
