Last week the administration brought in a kerosene heater to augment the inadequate central heater. This morning I came back from my first class to a nice aroma in the office. It smelled like hot chocolate. It turned out to be sweet potatoes wrapped in foil, roasting on top of the space heater.

Question: Do you think it would be out of line for me to bring in some hot dogs and make lunch on the heater? What about heating up my lasagna?

No, don't do that. Those heaters can only be used for warming up goguma or bori-cha. Any attempt to heat up hot dogs, lasagna or other Western foodstuffs will create an atmosphere of disharmony and conflict in the office, and will invalidate the warranty on the kerosene heater.

However a tray of eggs is perfectly acceptable as long as you also bring some salt!
