Hey,

my ipod mini is acting pretty schizo, it's only about 6 months old and I've babied this thing to make sure it lasts....

It freezes incredibly...sometimes for hours. occasionally it just won't work at all and goes to a sad face on the screen that say it may need service. The battery won't hold a charge longer than like 3-4 hours.

I bought it at the Apple Store in Coex Mall but, as I recall, no one there really spoke any English. How hard is it going to be to get any a/s on this thing. Anyone got any recommendations?

Impossible.

Nothing could possibly go wrong with an Apple product.

You probably just need to restore the software. This will clean off the hard drive, so you will have to reload the music, but it will almost certainly cure your ills.

But before you do that, try this first:

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ip_gettingstarted_t16.html

and then, if that doesn't work, the restore:

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ip_gettingstarted_t17.html

tip--if you restore, you'll have to rename the ipod. Use the same name as before or you may experience further odd behavior. I recently had to restore because I disconnected it while it was still ejecting.

i also just read somewhere that putting a harddrive in the freezer may help...i'm tempted to try it, but i'm never home and in a great enough state of awareness to stick it in there and not forget about it...

maybe if i put some ice cream in there with it i'd remember...

I've reset it, I've restored it, I've updated it, I've reset it, I've virus-checked it. It actually won't play anything now or turn on. when I try to turn it on I get a sad ipod face that recommends service. Im going to coex tomorrow morning, anyone know what time apple store opens?

coex apple stored pissed me right off. I phoned the day before and they told me to come in, I got there at 1 and they said their engineer was gone for the day. They wouldn't do anything, wouldn't even look at it. I told them I came from Suwon just for this one thing and they said "oh we have a service center in Suwon" Why couldn't they tell me that on the fucking phone!!!

the cult has lost a member.

Yes, there is a large, mystifying gap between the product and the service, from what I've heard at least--luckily I've never had any warranty difficulties. It can't help to be in foreign land.

The big guy at Coex that speaks English is a tool and because of him I'll never shop at that store again. I went to the a/s center here in Suwon, they turned it on, saw that it was fucked and told me that they would send it to the store in Seoul and exchange it for a new one. If that guy at Coex would've bothered at all to look at it he would've seen that it was fucked and could've done the same thing!

i need to get an ipod (30G) for a friend for christmas. i personally already hate ipod, but this is for her, not me, so it's moot.

anyone know the hours of this horrible awful apple store in co-ex? i tried calling coex information, but my korean and their english are not enough for effective communication about the apple store's phone number. i thought ipod was popular, but so far no one on the phone (114 or coex) has ever heard of such a thing. "apple? aquarium?" "no, apple....like sagwa..." "what?" "you know, ipod...mp3 player..." "what?? iriver?" "um, i-po-deu...??" no dice. my last effort got me the theater. or so she claimed...after 2 minutes of silence on her end...

none of this would matter, except that i only have 90 minutes available to buy this thing. so i have 1 shot at it. i think most of these places open at 10 or 10:30 and i must be at work at 12 near hongdae. i can try costco yangjae OR apple store coex OR yongsan OR technomart (or somewhere better? you suggest, please). must be black ipod 30G, though. Sad any help would be *much* appreciated.... thank you!!!;D

Go to their website: -

http://www.applestorecoex.com/

All the info. you need - working hours, phone numbers, map, etc. - is on there. You can also check to see if what you're after is actually in stock.

Hope it helps.
