My husband recently took a tour of the NORAD installation inside Cheyenne Mountain. They recounted this story to him:
One Christmas in Colorado Springs, Sears was having a little promotion where they advertised a telephone number kids could call to track Santa on his trip around the globe dropping off presents. The telephone number on the advertisement was misprinted, and on Christmas Eve a gadzillion kids ended up calling some colonel at NORAD inside Cheyenne Mountain asking where Santa was!!! After some head-scrathing they figured out what happened and decided to play along.
The next year they set up a "Track Santa" website and have been doing it ever since

| I had forgotten about that. CBC would broadcast Santa's position as tracked by NORAD every Christmas Eve. |

| When I was a kid we still had operators who connected you on the telephone. We could call Mrs. Santa and tell her what we wanted for Christmas. I remember worrying that she would forget to tell Santa to bring me Lincoln logs. |

It is comforting to know my tax dollars are being well spent.
Merry Christmas to all! |
