Just like the Thailand thread of a similar name, but for the Philippines. What's good to buy there? How are the tailors? Any bargaining stratagies? What are the clothes-sizes generally available there (same as korea?)

Thanks!

Filipinos come in all kinds of sizes.. from the really skinny to the western larger sizes - however, i've never seen the morbidly obese there.

So clothes reflect that as well.. they have totally different body shapes than Koreans.

Regarding shopping in general.. according to the Lonely Planet Philippines guide.. it says "many well-known designer brands from the west, such as polo, armani, and guess, have shops at these malls. Here ou can pick up brand-name clothing at a fraction of its cost in the West".

I'm not much of a shopper.. but if you are into musical instruments.. Cebu abounds with limitless options from the cocolele (cross of ukelele with coconut shells as body) to tiny guitars themselves to large guitars to mandolins and everything else you can imagine for string instruments for good quality and a fraction of western costs. Careful though as some are definetely only touristic ones as reflected by some with an extremely low price.

There are also lots of things like seashells made into chandaliers and lots of furniture type things everywhere..

you can find a good selection of RTW (Ready To Wear) clothes in Shoe-Mart (SM) - SM stores all over - where are you going in RP?

Often they have larger western sizes in the shops in the Malls, esp Mega Mall, and Shangri-La Plaza. Also try Glorietta.

Tailor-made stuff is quite reasonable - you buy the cloth in Manila; try Desoria(spelling) or Baclaran. Recommend buying the zipper/clasps/hooks whatever as well.

What to buy? What do you want to buy???? Cigars, jewelry, clothes, electronics, software, meds, ...............
