I just want to give a Merry Christmas to all those out there in Dave's land.
You know...
The 2 most ironic things about my first Christmas and my last Christmas in Korea:
1. It is/was a white Christmas (it snowed alittle last night and today)
2. I'm working on Christmas day.
a. THEN-I was working as an RTO on a remote radio transmission site during my first Christmas in 1996. My Christmas dinner was ramyun and hotdogs and watching all 6 hours of "The Stand" on video.
b. NOW- I'm teaching a one-month TESOL course today and my Christmas lunch are 2 oranges and soda.
I hope everyone is having a better Christmas....take care!
Cheers* |

Happy Hloidays to you, too.
Just think of the storeis you can tell to your grandchildren one day.
"There I was, in Korea (this was many years before Korea became the leader in stem cell research, the high tech capital and the hub of Asia. Even before it became the envy of the world and had all the best sport champians) and I had to teach a class. There was little heat and all the students were wearing their coats. For lunch we had to eat instant noodles (the main and favorite meal of all Koreans) which we all ate with delight."
Your grandchilren will look at you with full disbelief. |

I heard blaring in a corner store today:
"jinga ba, jinga ba, jinga ba lauk"
jingle bell rock?
...
... man the l/r thing can be really bad sometimes!
have you heard that particularly "koreanized" rendition? |

Korea seems to have a favorite song every christmas. Last year every shop was playing opy versions of "Santa claus is coming to town". This year I haven't been able to get away from reworked versions of "Felice Navidad". |
