No "liveability" measurement is complete without a "poisonous and evil beasties" metric. Australia would quickly drop off the radar, I'm afraid. However, if you put "abominable snowmen and likelihood of frostbite" on the list, Norway and Canada would vanish too. |

The criteria for calculating rankings include life expectancy, adult literacy, school enrollment, educational attainment, and adjusted real income. |
Interesting that the criteria are all mathematically determined. Well, not really. To be accurate the rankings need to include climate. People tolerate bitter cold or endless gray clouds and rain because they have no choice. |

Speaking for myself, Morocco would get my vote over Norway every day of the week. I guess I just don't care enough that my neighbor Olaf can write his name but that Omar's kids don't go to school. Along about February, after months and months of winter gloom, I feel like shortening the life expectancy of everyone who crosses my path. Starting with people who wear berets. |

Iceland is the second most liveable country?
The ranking must use very narrow criteria without much weight to the environment and quality of life that comes from nature and culture.
Not to mention its reputation for the highest prices in Europe.
Seems like a great place to visit though:

To be honest, I've been taking a leaf from some of the new posters. I've been aiming lower, based on the conclusion that I was writing above the heads of the great unwashed Europeans.
