The topic pretty much says it all. I got here and had internet installed and it worked perfectly fine for about a week and a half. Then one sunday I wake up and nothing. I figure it's down for one reason or another. Then a few days later as I'm up until the wee hours of the morning, I notice the modem blinking again. It's on. We'd had a bit of a storm so I figured the interuption in service was weather-related and keep on truckin'

Until it dies about an hour later. No warning, just cuts out. At the end of the week a tech guy came out and after hooking up a new modem and getting no response, some phone calls to whoever it was he called, plugging the old modem back in and some fiddling around with something outside, it comes back on. So great, I'm back in action.

Until about 18 hours later when it dies again. Out of curiosity I stay up late a day or so later and sure enough, at almost exactly 3am it comes on. Tonight it was on at 3:06 am. It tends to stay on anywhere from an hour to three hours but never later than 6am.

It's the christmas break at my school and the boss lady says they'll get someone out to fix it after we start up again so for now, here I am. Everyone is completely baffled why it would only come on in the middle of the night and only for a few brief hours. The boss says I should not have to pay the first months fee because it doesn't usually work and I agree, but that doesn't help me now.

So...any ideas as to what the hell's going on? Why would it work great at respectable speeds, then suddenly not? Then work again for less then a day and then suddenly not? Then come on at 3am and then stop 2 hours later? I've fiddled with nothing in respect to the modem or my internet settings, so it's not that.

What services or internet company?? I have had problems with all other companies other than Thrunet. Strange to say but in my area Thrunet is the only company that works. Try a different internet company.
