Ok, so I just got a hard drive put on my xbox (alongside the modchip) and I'm interested in putting games on my box. From what I've read I need to either get a hub to run Rj-45s out of, or I need a "crossover" cable. Which do you guys think is best? Furthermore, where can I get either of these items- I'm assuming emart is out... |

Either will work hub or router will be easier.. If you use a cross over you will need to configure your ethernet port on your pc so its the same as the xbox.
Its easier with a router or hub.
Any way I use C-XBox Tool for all my transfers. |

the xbox is pretty much just a computer, so anything that a computer can do, an xbox can do.
you can burn family guy episodes to a data cd or dvd, load up the xbox and watch em like that.
you can also network the xbox to your computer, and just transfer files to the xbox hard disk and then you have no need to waste cd's or dvd's.
the C-Xbox Tools thing is a windows program that is used for transfering files to/from the xbox, or downloading games off the xbox, etc etc...
i would recommend getting a router and networking your computer and your xbox to it. its really simple, and it only takes a few minutes.
the things that this xbox can do (besides playing games) is really amazing. you just need to do a bit of reading on the net, and have a bit of patience and you're ready to go.
if you guys need some help with specific things, feel free to PM me.

okay so I don't have an xbox and have never owned one, nor have I ever even gotten into a discussion about one, so I am NOT an expert. I do have a question here though.

I am assuming that this is downloaded versions of the program, usually DivX codec. How is it possible to watch them on xbox without the codec? wouldn't you have to load in the codec first (assuming you can do that)? |
