With some of our big four-day holiday weekend, my friend and I are looking to road trip within Korea in his new car. We want to see something new, something cool and uniquely Korean and not in the Seoul area. But it's Winter, and a damn cold one at that, and I just got over a nasty flu. We want to avoid the cold as much as possible, which seems to rule out visiting famous parks or mountains. I went to Sorak-san last year at Xmas, and while it was awesome and I definitely want to go again, I think I'll wait until summer. So damn cold.

Any suggestions on somewhere we could drive to, spend a night or two, see something good, and not be doomed to frigidity and/or illness? What's Busan like as a pop-in-for-a-couple-of-days city, and what would the drive there cost, won-wise as well as time-waise (I have no clue how to translate size-on-a-map into hours-in-a-car)?
