|
|
I have a laptop from N. America and I'd like to be able to type in Korean. I have an external keyboard with Hangeul and I've gone to Language options control panel and selected to add Korean. I even have the language bar on the task bar, but when I switch to Korean and try to type using hangeul it only comes out as Roman characters. Anyone have an idea of how to solve this? |

Are you trying to switch to Korean using a keyboard button or the button in the language bar? |

I've tried both but neither seems to work. I'm assuming the han/yeong button on my keyboard won't work since I'm running an English version of Windows.
I've looked over the Microsoft site and searched google. It appears I'm doing everything I need to do, yet still no hangeul. I've tried in Word 2003 and other applications as well. Seems like an easy enough process, but no luck. I hope someone has some answers. |

Somewhere in the language options it lets you choose the button combination that switches the languages. Maybe if you set it to the han/yeong button it will work. |

You've got to both click the Korean on the language bar, and also push the little korean key next to the space bar (it's usually the first key to the right of the space bar). On an English keyboard, it is some other funky design, not hangul, but the Korean IME program makes use of it once you have it installed.
It should work then. |

I had the same problem a while back (was using an English keyboard, though). I seem to remember that I had to download or install (from the Windows CD) an IME that allowed Korean input. |
