A lot of Koreans go to the east coast to watch the first sun of the new year come up over the Sea of Japan. |

....so stay as far away from the East Coast as possible! I find that I get the most pissed off at Korea when I am in a crowded place with ajummas elbowing me and people standing completely oblivious in the middle of a crowd not moving and stopping traffic! COEX has got to be the closest place to hell. Lots of places should be less crowded on New Years than usual. Just be sure that any museums or whatever are going to be open. |

That show looks cool, and it seems we have been warned as well:
This is not your country.
If you're new to Skunk Hell, try to keep a low profile until you figure out how things work. If you get too drunk, try to pick up Korean punk girls, mosh too hard, or heckle bands you know nothing about, you will find yourself very vulnerable in a room full of angry punks and skinheads.
If you're looking for fights, loose women, or you don't like Koreans, there are several alternatives just a few blocks away.

The show was cool. But the rules about picking girls seems a bit much. It's a free country, isn't it? |

You're new here, aren't you. It's free as long as you don't pollute the gene pool or taint the pure and innocent Korean women. |

I wrote the warning myself because we've had way too many stupid-as-christ foreigners coming there. If you show up and you're just looking to pick up a girl, you'll stand out a lot and get noticed by all the wrong people. Plus, it just doesn't happen; punk girls generally do not sleep with total strangers, particularly not who they meet at their own club. And no, the Korean punks do not pick up girls at shows. Nobody's strangers there. I could count the number of first-time-meeting hook-ups in my two years going to shows on one hand.
Most of our worst foreigner problems were caused by English teachers who don't want to be here and don't respect the locals. There'was a crust show that was supposed to be about peace, and some foreigners showed up and heckled the bands a little too much. I personally chased the worst one away.
By the way, the poster's been swapped for next weeks' show. |
