Huge Yellow Dust storm moving in tonight. Close the windows.
I got the warning message from USFK. I can't legally copy and paste the information. There's a big storm moving in and it's expected to be the largest storm since last Spring. More than 300mgl expected....whatever that means...I just know it's bad.
btw, here's a link to the current conditions monitor http://www.seoul.amedd.army.mil/sites/yellowsand/default.asp |

| Thanks a lot - that monitor site is especially helpful in determining whether-or-not it's safe to take a deep breath around Seoul (maybe not a good time for joggers right now - but so far the yellow dust storm hasn't been as bad as the forecast...) |

| Here we go. Yellow Dust scare season again. I've been here 6 years and it hasn't bothered me yet. |

I'm not personally prone to throwing hissy-fits over a little Yellow Dust. Or even large amounts of it. But something had me sneezing last night, and today I've come in from outside three times with my eyes itching, irritated and red from rubbing. It's here already. It's only February and that foul *beep* is here already. I wonder how long before it gets so bad that prospective outbound Engish teachers factor it into their choice of where to work & live... Like how Western expat families are leaving Hong Kong or refusing to be sent there by their employers.

Clear blue skies today here near the south coast.
Air smells fresh. |

| Move over, VI. The entire population of western Korea is staying at your house until early June or whenever this area is fit again for human habitation. |

Great. I've got a big two-bedroom apartment overlooking the river in my signature. Come on over! I'm making a big chili tomorrow as a waygook friend visits. Always room for more. |

You're on! So, you can expect most of us 27 million around 2 or 3 o'clock tomorrow, we just made our KTX reservations. Not sure about about the connecting buses from Busan, so let's say 3 o'clock Korea Time. Oh yeah, and for breakfast nothing too elaborate. Just some toast, coffee, and a three-minute egg. (Not two-and-a-half-minute, mind you. Three.) |

I'm not normally too badly affected by it either. Just one day last year it made me as sick as a dog.
Thanks for the heads up!

There's a four-hour express bus from Nambu terminal in Seoul, and I indeed serve eggs, toast and coffee for breakie, though I often suggest wheatlets, porridge and tea.
I have met over 20 Dave's posters by such open invites to my place, most when I was on Geoje grant you, as the island mystique drew many. Where I am now is a nice river valley, with a nice beach and parks, but it has less appeal as an idea it seems.
Anyone interested in getting out of the city - any city - and meet some friendly country folk, there's a fellow Canadian, an Aussie and an American hereabouts, and we're all approachable and easy to meet. And none of us are bar crowd types, so if you wanna hang out and chat, come on down!

When I meet Ms. Right yeah. But then we'll be inviting couples to visit.
I grew up in a town of 5000 people, have always had urban aspirations, and the university years were great, but since then small town life have been more my speed for day-to-day living.
So come and I'll show you there's no yellow sand hereabouts. PM me. |

| The "Yellow Dust" affects me far less than the Long-Leaf Pine of the southeastern US. |

I lived in Taijin China as a language student from 1994 - 1995. One of my vivid memories is walls of yellow from ground to the heavens coming across the city. Everyone ran to their homes and rooms.
Those warped and rickety Chinese metal windows just leaked dust too. |

So does this "yellow dust" storm get people sick with yellow fever or something?
Sorry, sorry. I apologize, I just had to say it. Yeah it was bad. |
