What is the situation with the postal service here? How reliable is it? I need some forms sent to me from home but if the post sucks - takes a long time or what ever - I'd rather not even bother.

It's quite good actually. I've only ever had trouble once, and that was because the package got demolished at customs- not really the post office's fault.

Waited a month for my transcripts to come through from blighty, though they went via Singapore. Not sure whether they were held up there or here in Korea.

Spinoza, I have found the postal service to be very good.

I have only had one package not delivered in over four years. Not bad, considering that package was related to my University loan that I had 'forgotten' to pay.

However, sometimes there is a delay and as the kind lady at the post office so eloquently explained to me, its due to the high concentration of discarded rubbish on the footpaths.

Hence, that impedes the postmans desired course....oops

So, probably better to wait until you eventually get back home and receieve it 'personally'.

If your folks back home use the correct romanization on the address and include the post code then all should be well.

Always tell your sender a contact number to put at the bottom of the address. Use the cellphone number of a Korean speaker. Maybe your supervisor, receptionist or boss.

I suggest your school/work address. They are open when postmen deliver. It's more reliable than having stuff sent to your home.
