I have been in contact with a few companies (for example; Soriclub,
HiEnglish, Times Media) that outsource teachers to corporations to teach business English or presentation classes.
Alot of them try to deduct money for "tax".
But the truth is they can't.
Legally, the only one who can deduct money from your pay is the school that registers you and sponsors you for your ARC.
I know that this kind of work is "illegal", yet I know alot of teachers do these classes to supplement their income (there is no need beat around the bush)
So next time they deduct "tax" from your pay, ask to see a tax statement (by law, an employer is obligated to give one to their employees) and if they refuse to give you one, you can take them to the tax office and claim "tax evasion".
Remember, if you are going to give your free time to someone in the hopes of earning some extra cash, make sure you get the most from your time. |
