My boss wants me to focus primarily on speaking and pronunciation with my kids. While that's pretty easy to do, the text books are just that: text books. Most of the material is geared for reading a short passage and then asking/answering questions. I'm wondering if anyone has some good online resources for just reading and speaking. Something a little more fulfilling then a couple of paragraphs about some famous dead person or a half-page conversation between two people in the book.
Thanks,

I do a kind of fun pronunciation excercise with my students. I write a paragraph of about 6-8 sentences and load it with landmines; lots of 'th', 's', 'r' and 'l' sounds (be sure to add the word 'learn' somewhere in there); points go to the student who can make it the farthest without any real glaring pronunciation problems. It can get exciting as those who get bounced after the first four words then listen closer and want to try it again to see how far they get.
Other than that, pronunciation is a slow grind and devoting day after day to it will wear everyone down. I take a slow but consistent approach, a little bit each day; correct the students as they read, explain that it is pronounced 'bike' not 'bike-ah' etc etc. |
