I really wouldn't call it pretty; however, if you look hard, you can find some really nice places to hang out. Guess it depends where you're coming from and where you'll be living while here.

I would say fairly laid-back. About 4mil for pop, but never seems that way as the city is quite spread out, with mountains dividing various areas of it. Surfing? Sorry, I've never surfed. There are a lot of beaches though. Some are okay. Hae-oon-dae is bloody crowded in the summer...almost unbearable(for me anyway). I'm not sure what kind of waves you need for surfing, but I guess at times that there's some larger swells(might be better during typhoon season?). Anyway, lots of beaches, lots of mountains, a few parks, a few rinks(good for skating year-round), and if you want to row, I think you can do that in Da-dae-po(at least a friend of mine does). Cycling is at your own risk as the traffic is pretty heavy on most days, but possible. |

| I'm a surfer myself (Aussie) but unfortunately there's nowhere to surf in Korea unless you like ripples. You have to go to Japan for surfing. If you like snowboarding there are some good places to go here. I left my surfboard at home and brought my snowboard instead. |

Busan has good spots for hiking and a couple of decent beaches in the summer.
Is is a crazy city? That depends what you consider crazy I think.
Is it pretty, in some areas it is, in others it is a bit chaotic.
It does have its charms and advantages. |

You can surf at Sonjong beach which is the next beach north of Haeundae.
Not all the time of course.Songjong is a popular beach for windsurfers.
After a storm some waves come in but they are budget small.Basically if you have to surf every week dont come to Korea.
By the way PNU area although not without its attractions is a fair way from the sea. |
