I think it looks pretty sweet, plus I got a good reference for this recruiter
Kindergartners might be a might troublesome, but I'm sure that if I read this forum for some tips on managing them it'll be okay
I'm pretty level-headed, so hopefully I can find a nice medium between being too nice and them walking all over me, and trying to be too controlling and having them slip away |

It sounds OK, not great, just OK. A decent first year job if you don't mind teaching kindy. The schedule makes a 9+ hour day, which is a little long, but pretty typical of a kindy job.
If you're in Korea, try to visit and meet the teachers and see the apartment. If not, at least try to talk to two of those foreign teachers on the phone. |

All kindergarten. I hope you like very young kids. They start kindy "yoochiwon" here at age 3, maybe younger. 3-6 year olds. You won't really be teaching like you were thinking. But, if you love these little one's it could be a dream. Playing, crying, coloring, songs, potty accidents, sickness all over the room from time to time, hugs, wet slobbery kisses, kids climbing on you, sitting in your lap, falling asleep as you carry them ...
The money and other stuff sounds fair for newbie (I've followed some of your other posts) who is really an engineer on a pre career vacation.
And, yes, talk to some of the other teachers there. Ask many questions. |

Those are pretty long days.....I always get ticked when they schedule hours like this and then have the gall to tell you its only 120 hours a month....looks to me like its 180 hours a month. |

I do these hours 3 days a week. Never again. The wonjang has agreed to hire a kindergarten teacher this year, as I made it clear there is no way I am staying otherwise.
They (the school the OP advertised) have got 6 foreign teachers and yet everyone has to be there ALL day? I'm pretty sure they just like having white faces hanging around the school. I know my boss did: when I got sick of the crowded teachers' room at my hagwon I started doing my prep in one of the upstairs classrooms. My wonjang clued in and gave me a bigger desk while insisting I do my prep downstairs (where mothers can see my diligent arse). Of course a bigger desk didn't make the teachers' room any less crowded - quite the opposite in fact.
I will never fully get this place. |

I also wonder about the long hours that you have to be at work. Assuming you teach 6 hours a day, that's a lot of hours expected for prep or hanging around. You could possibly go home during the big breaks, but that's only depending on the schedule of course.
You will be tired after a year of that. |

That's a good point..
All right, I'll ask about the long hours
yeah, I don't really care about the pay that much.. so long as it's plenty to get by on and maybe send some back to my dad
It looks like an okay job to me, I'm gonna go ahead and get in touch with the employer and see about talking to some foreign teachers there via e-mail
Worse come to worst, I end up with the most awful teaching job ever and put up with it until I can't handle it any more while enjoying the country, then come back to the US and become an engineer |
