If I ship something back home from Korea, and use the regular Korean post office, is it trackable on-line?

when you go be sure to ask for EMS which comes with a tracking number that you can follow on the English version of the korean post site.

Thanks for the website. The EMS service looks rather expensive, up there with FedEx and the other big international carriers. I was wondering if a tracking number would come with with cheaper option, Parcel Post. It doesn't look like it, from what I've seen on their site.

Yes, you can use international recorded or registered. There is a difference in names, but generally the post office people just use *deung kee*, which means registered. I think it's just 2500 won on top of your normal postage.

Deung kee, in hangul, is . I hope you can read that.

My understanding of registered mail is that you only get a signature at delivery. With deung kee, do you get a tracking number that you can use to track the shipment on-line?

EMS is a great service. Fast, not too expensive (as long as what you're shipping is not too heavy), and the tracking is excellent. I paid 80.000 for a package that was 8.5 kg, versus my parents sending a 7kg package for 85.000 via USPS.

This is how the tracking looks, quite wonderful in my opinion.

It is a good option, and I recommend it to anyone.

I can also recommend EMS, but if you want to know if your package arrived asap, use the Korean language tracking page...apparently they update the English version later Rolling Eyes

Absolutely!

I do it all the time for things that are not so urgent. They will give you a receipt with a number on it and you can just go to their website: www.koreapost.go.kr for this page:

I miss the efficiency of the Korean post office. The quality of service of Canada Post makes me want start a firebomb campaign or go totally Kazinsky on them. They're an utter disgrace.
