Has anybody been to Bali recently? I'm braving a trip next month and am wondering if I should get some bomb insurance up the wazoo.

I understand about it being a Muslim country, etc., and will pay the utmost respect to proper attire and behaviour, but I'm curious what some of you have to say about your last visit there.

Bali is Hindu or Buddhist or something.. but yeah, around it, Indonesia is Muslim..

But its a different kind of islam than in the Middle East. My time visiting the big cities in Java.. I just saw TONS of women with the habib on their head.. lipsticks on their lips.. make-up, tight jeans, high heels, etc. types of things.

Anyways, the only muslims you'll see in Bali are the non-Balinese ones.. the true locals are Hindu or Buddhist or something non-muslim..

Yes, Bali is Hindu. However, the place does get hit by Muslim terrorists from time to time. I was there in August, figuring the bombing was so long ago, but about a month later, boom, another bomb. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your chances of getting killed in a plane crash on the way there are probably higher than actually getting killed by a bomb. Just make sure you lock your suitcase so you don't end up like Schapelle Corby. That's what I would be most worried about.
